Review: Tokyo Restaurant Nairobi

Tokyo restaurant, as the name suggests, serves Japanese food and is one of my favourite places to grab some sushi. There are other restaurants around that offer food that is just as great but the thing about Tokyo that makes it stand out from the rest is it’s garden seating. Eating out there in the cool afternoon breeze makes for a wonderful lunch out with friends and at night, the fairy lights that they have hang up on the trees goes a long way in giving the restaurant a festive feel.

Nairobi National Park

Nairobi National Park

One of the crowning jewels of the city of Nairobi is the fact that it is the only capital city in the world with a national park. This isn’t really surprising seeing as most of Kenya was once the wild savannah but still, it’s pretty cool! Twenty minutes from home and I find myself surrounded by nature and wildlife. On my last visit to the park I was lucky enough to come across a lioness enjoying her early bird special.

The shaggy dog show

The weather didn’t seem like it was up to cooperating but my kids and I were still determined to make it to the shaggy dog show. Swaddled in sweaters, we made our way to the Racecourse where the event was being held. On arriving there, I was surprised to find the parking lot full of cars! Clearly we weren’t the only ones eager to spend a rainy Sunday afternoon supporting a good cause.

Mario Puzo: The Family (Book Review)

I don’t even know where to begin with this book except maybe with a round of applause for Mr. Puzo. Opening with a rigged papal election, this is a beautifully woven story that juxtaposes the purity and piety of religion with the moral failings of the men tasked with upholding God’s will on earth.
